About Us

Solid Fermentation Innovation (SFI) is an Israeli contract research and process-development partner specializing in solid-state fermentation (SSF): a low-water, low-energy bioprocess that uses microbes to transform solid organic substrates into high-value products.
SFI works with agri-food processors, breweries, oil mills, and other industrial by-product sources to valorize their side-streams through SSF, upcycling low-value waste into functional proteins, enzymes, bioactives, and biomaterials. This model can turn a disposal cost into a revenue stream while producing ingredients for the alternative-protein, agricultural-biologicals, enzyme, and biomaterials markets.
SFI offers end-to-end SSF development services: strain discovery and process R&D, feedstock and substrate optimization, fermentation-condition development, and pilot validation (10–350 kg) with KPI-driven reproducibility trials. It operates an in-house pilot system and supports technology transfer to clients’ production teams or contract manufacturers, giving clients a de-risked path from bench-scale proof of concept to production readiness.
The team combines hands-on fungal bioprocess expertise with scientific and commercial leadership, drawing on backgrounds in mycology, biotechnology, and industrial fermentation scale-up. SFI is building partnerships across Europe and beyond with equipment manufacturers, ingredient companies, and waste suppliers to establish SSF as a mainstream circular-economy manufacturing platform.
