Entogenix develops bioengineered insects to break down organic and plastic waste, enabling sustainable waste reduction and circular bioeconomy solutions
Entogenix is a synthetic biology startup harnessing the power of bioengineered insects to transform how we manage waste. We are developing novel insect strains capable of breaking down both organic and plastic waste, significantly reducing landfill volumes and enabling cleaner, more efficient waste valorization. By combining cutting-edge molecular biology with nature-inspired systems, we aim to build a new category of biomanufacturing — one that is scalable, decentralized, and deeply rooted in ecological principles.
Founded by Dr. Anna Melkov, a molecular biologist with expertise in insect genetics, Entogenix brings together science, sustainability, and innovation. We’ve already been accepted into two leading climate and bioeconomy accelerator programs and are actively working on our patent portfolio. Our technology is designed to integrate into existing waste infrastructure, offering waste managers, municipalities, and biogas facilities a breakthrough solution to treat mixed waste more effectively.
Entogenix’s long-term vision is to help build a nature-aligned, biology-first future — one where waste becomes a feedstock, insects are engineered for purpose, and the boundaries between waste management and bioeconomy are redefined.
